Everyone did what was right in his own eyes. (Judges 17:6 ESV)

We don’t have to look far to see America is in crisis.

Politics, COVID, LGBTQ+, racial bias, mass shootings, hyper-inflation. And now the Roe v. Wade decision overturned in the Supreme Court, after almost 50 years of law. What is going on?

We’ve become a divided nation and lost our GPS to navigate godly priorities.

If we continue this path, that division will destroy our nation. The greatest nation ever will become, well … just another nation.

Israel was once a great nation. The Old Testament book of Judges reveals a key reason they fell from God’s grace, “Everyone [Israelites] did what was right in his own eyes” (Judges 17:6 ESV emphasis mine).

Sounds like America, doesn’t it? We decide what is right, what is truth, and what we deserve. Rather than what we can do for others. For our nation.

I’m certain our ancestors from the WWII era, known as the Greatest Generation, didn’t think this way. That’s why they experienced great victories at war and unification in our nation. They cared more about each other than their own agenda.

I am not passing judgement, just making observations. But I am warning those who are reading this: our country displaced the truth of God’s Word for personal gratification and selfish agendas. Our opinions have become more important than our witness. And … I’m guilty of this too.

We need to turn back to the Truth in the Bible.

Before “One Nation Under God” becomes a nation without God. Staggering like European nations under dark beliefs and floundering without national purpose. Are you willing to be part of the solution?

Allow God’s Word to help you understand your purpose. Draw Jesus close and let Him change you. Change in our nation will happen one person at a time. And good change takes place when our hearts are right with God.

If our nation doesn’t unite under the guise of Christianity, how else do you propose we do it? There are so many citizens who don’t identify as Christian, and while you or i could see this unification, what about the others who don’t believe? How do you unite those who believe something else??

Auntie LG, you make a good point. Jesus is the answer. Without Him there is little unification. The OT reveals this to us about Israel’s commitment to the Father. When they were committed there was peace and their enemies could not touch them. When they were not committed to the Lord, no peace.
